'A small school with huge opportunities'

This term our topic is “Into the Forest” and we are going to be looking at the traditional tale of Little Red Riding Hood and the alternatives to this story as well as the story ‘Into the Forest’ by Anthony Browne. We will be looking at our school environment and the surrounding village through map work, a village walk and learning about ‘The Great Storm of 1987’ linking English with Geography and History.

Please find attached a web planner for this term and for more detailed information please see the class section on the school website or on our class page on DB Primary. If your child has any books, pictures or artefacts they would like to bring in related to the topic we will happily display them.

PE will usually be on a Monday and Friday afternoon. Please ensure all items of clothing are clearly named and that earrings are not worn for safety reasons. If your child has recently had their ears pierced and they need to keep studs in, please provide your child with tape to cover the earrings.

The children will continue to have lessons in the swimming pool on a Monday so please  make sure their kit is in school. Wellies and coats are also needed so that we can access the outdoor areas as much as possible. Please ensure that all belongings are clearly named.

We would really appreciate more parents willing to give up 20 minutes to hear a few children read as this is an invaluable skill for the children to learn. If you are able to help please come and speak to us.
