St Mary’s C.E Primary School Curriculum Statement
Intent: St Mary’s C E Primary School makes every effort to enrich the educational experiences of our children. Our curriculum is planned to be not only educational, but also enjoyable for all learners.Through our Christian Faith, we acknowledge our responsibility to all, to enrich lives and show love and respect within our school family and the wider community. We believe in lifelong learning aiming to equip our children to live life today and for tomorrow rooted in Christian love. All we do as a school is centred on Christ’s teachings in the Bible and Christian values. Our vision is ‘Education for life in all its fullness’. John 10:10
Implement: Our curriculum is planned to be cross-curricular where possible and discreetly taught when necessary. This enables our children to be given opportunities to learn in cohesive blocks and ‘stick’ their learning together each year, building on previous knowledge, skills and experiences. Our curriculum drivers: Christian distinctiveness, our school values, the outdoor environment and our diverse world support our learners in developing their cultural capital. They also allow Teachers to have the flexibility to deliver a curriculum that is both relevant and inspiring.
Impact: Through providing an environment to stimulate young minds we will develop well rounded, happy children. Our children will have a confident set of skills, knowledge and Christian values, which can be used to get ahead in education and life more generally. In short, they will learn more, remember more, enjoy more developing academically, physically, mentally, spiritually, socially and emotionally. Thus enabling them to be ready for their next stage in education.
