Safeguarding and Child Protection

St Mary's C.E Primary School, Washington is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  This commitment is guided by clear whole school policy and practice, which applies to all staff and volunteers working within or on behalf of the school. We recognise that everyone working within our school environment has a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils.

All staff receive appropriate Safeguarding and child protection training which is updated regularly. Within school we have appropriately trained designated members of staff for child protection, referred to as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), who take the lead on all child protection matters.
