Chestnut Class - Years 3 & 4

The Teacher in Chestnut Class is Miss Foot.  The Learning Support Assistants in this class are Mrs Cameron and  Miss Scott.

The two year groups of children aged 7 - 9 years are together for most sessions, but split into their work groups or smaller working groups that require more individual learning needs.

Chestnut Class - Communications

Dear Chestnut Class,

I hope you have all had a fantastic Christmas! I am very excited to welcome you back to school this term to enjoy learning all about our exciting topics.

We will be asking for your support in continuing to read at home 3 times a week. Mrs Cameron will collect the reading records in every Friday and if they have been signed 3 times by an adult, your child will receive a raffle ticket and be entered into our reading challenge.

Spellings and Speed Tables will continue with weekly tests on a Friday.

- Can we please ask that every child brings a named water bottle to school.

Games will be on Monday afternoons and PE on Friday afternoons.

For this term, we ask that children come into school wearing their full Games kit on a Monday.

On a Friday, the children will be exploring a new exciting topic of yoga and mindfulness; children will remain in their school uniform for this.

This term our exciting new topic is called 'Journeys.'

This is an exciting and fascinating topic which I’m sure the children will love. We will be embarking on a hot air balloon to journey around Our Local Area and the United Kingdom. This is a geography based topic which is enriched via the texts 'Kensuke's Kingdom', 'The Journey', 'The Wright Brothers' and 'Amelia Earhart.'

Below is our topic web that outlines the curriculum this term. Our knowledge organisers about our topic and science topics are below. You will need these to support you with your homework.

Homework will continue to be sent home, via DB Primary on Friday's and will need to be completed by the following Wednesday.

The children will need their username and passwords to log in (stuck in the front of their reading records).

Each week I will set up a new online class page where children will be set alternate Maths, English and Topic homework.

We ask that work is uploaded to their Spring 21 file in their 'my work' section on their DB pages.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any assistance or support.

Kind regards - Miss Foot
